Rohit Agrawal: Flying an Aircraft with Creative Ideas, Real Thoughts and a Focused Mindf

A pioneer in eye care for more than two decades, Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals believes in providing the best quality eye care for everyone. With the trust of more than 10 lakhs satisfied patients and over 1 lakh successful surgeries and procedures, Sharp Sight has established itself as one of the leading eye care providers with 14 centers spread across Northern & Eastern India.

The eye care provider was the first to be accredited with NABH, which stands for its international quality clinical services. From severe eye conditions to pediatric ophthalmology, Sharp Sight has expert ophthalmologists and clinical support to care for patients with eye problems.

Rohit Agrawal leads the Group Corporate Communications of Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals as an accomplished, innovative, and successful media professional with more than a decade’s experience in mining new and ROI-driven creative strategies for establishing organizational goals.

Rohit has completed his academics in Mass Communications at GGSIPU University. He then started his professional career as a trainee reporter at UNI and SI News Channels. Later he shifted to Cogent EMR Solution as a Public Relations Officer.

After that, Rohit shifted his focus toward the corporate world, where he got the chance to work as a Deputy Manager in the Branding and Communications Department at the Center for Sight Group of eye hospitals in 2008. Later in 2011, Rohit joined Paras Hospital as a Brand Manager, and in 2020 he joined Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals as the Departmental Head- of Corporate Communications.

Rohit says, “I believe in character, values, vision, and action. I am a quick learner and believe in learning from my mistakes, for I strongly feel that this virtue will take me ahead in life and my career.”

Diversifying Offerings

The first thing that Rohit does is market research. At first, he learns about his target audience, what they care about, etc. Then, he chooses the way he will communicate with them and run an A/B test. Rohit wants to learn what type of messaging is most important for this group. After analyzing his results, He opts for the winning test but continues to refine the messaging throughout a campaign’s lifetime.

On the other hand, Media Relations is Rohit’s favorite Corporate Communication method. As mentioned above, he shared a warm bond with journalists which can offer a wide PR to his company. He added, PR is a direct way to connect with your target audience via News channels, Print Media, Digital, Radio and Magazines which helps in establishing company’s voice and branding decently.

Accept Challenges with a Smile

Rohit feels that a workplace challenge is anything that prevents you from succeeding in your role. Multiple factors like changes in the workplace, lack of expertise, conflicting management styles, or contrasting personalities can create challenges in your workplace.

Every role has its very own set of challenges that can occur at any part of a professional’s career. How you are tackling challenges in your workplace can leave an impression on how your colleagues view you. So, it is very important to develop a strategy to deal with workplace challenges.

“In fact, I would recommend each and every professional that ‘accept challenges with a smile.”- Rohit states.

Leadership Principles

With the rise of social media, the way of communication changed dramatically. Starting from your websites to your handouts to tweets what you say and how you say it is absolutely critical to stay relevant, current, and influential in your markets.

Finding the answers to a few basic questions like ‘who needs you,’ ‘who do they need you?’, and “what is your value’ helps to a large extent. Rohit believes answers to these questions form the messages that are unique to you. These messages must be consistent, and everyone in your organization reflects that.

He also feels various key message variations can also be developed for numerous purposes, including speeches, public service announcements, or industry presentations. However, that needs to be consistent with stemming from the overarching corporate key messages. A well-crafted set of key messages will showcase all your key benefits, support your mission and highlight your value.

Future Roadmap

As a leading eyecare brand, Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals firmly believe in developing a culture where the team and performance thrive. The eyecare brand has opened 14 centres in just two decades and provides world-class ophthalmic services with great passion and dedication. Sharp Sight is currently eyeing Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttrakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi NCR, and the northeastern part of India to add nearly 40 new centers within the next 5 years.

Rohit states, “Recently, Sharp Sight has collaborated with LOGY.AI, which introduced an AI-based screening solution to identify cataracts on the spot within a few seconds and that too with 92 percent accuracy. We ensure that we will be introducing more new technologies in the coming 5 years.”Â

Janak Sheth: Taking the Pharmaceutical World to higher latitude with his venture, Century Pharmaceutical Ltd

A versatile business leader with an innovative approach, Janak Sheth is driving excellence throughout the pharmaceutical industry with his venture, Century Pharmaceuticals Limited. Dr. Janak Sheth earned his B.Tech degree from IIT – Delhi and today, he is an Industry veteran in the Pharmaceutical world with a total experience of 45 years.

Century Pharmaceuticals Ltd has been manufacturing APIs for over three decades. It offers other services also apart from supplying APIs. The company undertakes long-term contracts for manufacturing intermediates and development of new Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients as per your requirement. They are supplying APIs to global pharmaceutical companies in India and abroad for the last 3 decades. Some of their major customers operate in India and export their products to other countries. Century is also engaged in pioneering research of novel molecules for the treatment and cure for Asthma and allergy.

STORY OF JANAK SHETH

As a young child, he always dreamt that he would not like to work like his father who was employed with a Bank but to start his own business. Dr Janak Sheth did not have any businessmen in his extended family nor had the resources required for setting up a business. So he knew that he had an uphill task in front of him. He decided to work towards his end objective by starting on the fundamentals – to get a good education.

Janak Sheth decided to get admitted to the best engineering institution – Indian Institute of Technology and pursued Chemical Engineering. He had a sharp focus on his future, so it kept him well engrossed in his studies and on “learning” rather than just excelling at exams. Dr Janak Sheth did his graduation with distinction and decided to join a company which could allow him to learn basics and he finally got that. Although he was very junior in the company, he decided to take decisions which many seniors feared to take. He became a sought after person owing to this ability by his colleagues.

However, he also got reprimanded by the top management for taking decisions which were way beyond his authority. He enjoyed it as there were few who dared to take decisions he was taking and it gave him a thrill. Although he was a just a Project Engineer for this new international project, he was effectively working as a Project Director taking most of the decisions including design and procurement of equipment etc. Later Dr Janak was involved with the installation of the equipment and thereafter production. After 4 years he left them and started his own business with a paltry sum of only Rs 3,000. He was lucky that the government looking to his acumen and project details, supported him with loans to set up the business including an equity capital loan to bridge the gap in funds available with him and that required in the form of equity investment.

DIVERSIFY THE ORGANIZATION’S OFFERINGS

Initially, Century was started with only 2 products. It took time to manage the finances, produce goods and market them as they had no previous business experience. With limited means, it was far more challenging. However, they stabilized themselves after 2 years and slowly started serving more customers. With more confidence to run the business, Dr. Janak decided to expand the production capacity and add more products to the portfolio. Based on customer feedback and their confidence in the products and services, the team decided on the next few products. They had a very good response from all customers and this set the ball rolling for them.

GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Owing to his success in business, Janak Sheth got invited to several social forums for helping the downtrodden. He has the opportunity to encourage students for their extraordinary performances and also provide financial support to those that need it the most. When he sees these students graduate and shine out in their careers, it gives him great pleasure for having made a difference in their lives. In recent times Century is also involved with providing help to tribal children who have congenital issues like cleft. They are able to win smiles from parents of these children and look forward to the day these children grow and become successful in their careers.

CHALLENGES ON THE WAY

Janak Sheth has a belief that any challenge is actually an opportunity. He has capitalized on all complaints received from his customers about their products and services. The recent COVID pandemic was also taken by them as an opportunity. They were amongst the first companies to get into action and started exports of their products when most people were in lockdown staying at home. This gave Dr Janak and his team more confidence and appreciation from their customers. As a result, they have seen much higher growth this year than in the recent past!

SECRET SAUCE AND LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES

“When I was working, I realized that the speed with which I could make decisions helped me take bold decisions which many procrastinated. This decisive nature helped me as I progressed with our business. This ability resulted in greater self-confidence and with my sharp focus on my business, I maintained my enthusiasm and determination to continue to work towards success. I kept my sharp focus on the few things we worked on and tried t excel”, asserted Dr Janak.

“This helped us establish a niche for our products with extensive knowledge of the products we produced. Our
positive attitude helped us look at the brighter side of things and this kept us always in the sunshine. One of the most important aspects was integrity in business. This made us very predictable and hence were in the good books of most of our customers with greater support with time. Over the years we learnt the art of strong communications within and outside our company. Transparency in thoughts made our work very easy and smooth to execute”, he further added.

THE BIGGEST FAILURE IN BUSINESS AND LEARNING

Janak Sheth and his team were working on a novel molecule which required a lot of funds – much beyond their capability. They were approached by GVFL to fund them as a private equity investor. Initially, they found them as a serious mature venture fund and therefore listened to GVFL the way to commercialise the molecule. This was their biggest professional blunder to listen to GVFL against their own thought process. Ultimately the Century team had to give them an exit by almost killing themselves but sadly achieved no progress. Had it not been for GVFL, they would have succeeded in making a significant development of the novel molecule and registered the first new biological entity in India.

With this failure, Janak Sheth says that they have learnt to depend upon our own thought processes instead of depending on “experts”.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE?

Janak Sheth said, “Success for me means doing something that makes me happy, and something that I crave and enjoy. When I enjoy my work, I work with only a reasonable effort to cross new challenges. This success enables us to grow and develop mentally, spiritually and professionally”.

NEW IDEAS TO BE IMPLEMENTED

“As we grow further, we would like to dedicate ourselves to the social upliftment where possible and to work on uncharted areas which help in providing new medicines with much less side effects. Currently, we are working on the development of personalized cancer treatment. This is a targeted therapy approach which will specifically target and kill the tumour in the cancer patient and yet without any side effect. Our objective is to make a significant progress in this novel area and alleviate the pain of cancer patients”, Janak Sheth proudly shared.

VISION OF LIFE

For Janak Sheth, the vision in life is to contribute to the national economy through taxes and duties paid on imports and sale of their products. Presently, his company is doing various kinds of CSR activities in rural and tribal areas. The team gives special focus on providing basic education and drinking water facility to the people who live near their plant.

THE CHARACTERISTIC OF EVERY LEADER

Every leader should be capable enough to think in a unique and different way and should be able to innovate in their business. Innovation is the key to growth!

BEST ADVICE EVER RECEIVED

While sharing about the best advice ever received, Janak Sheth said, “Once I received a piece of advice that I am not innovating enough and that startled me as I was considered to be one who dares to innovate. But I took the advice in good stride. With a strong and cohesive team managing the present operations in Century Pharmaceuticals Ltd, it is time to think ahead. We are now planning to invest further in R & D and also to expand production capacity although we have sufficient surplus capacity. We understood the advice that we are not growing as fast as we can and should”.

MAIN DRIVING FORCE BEHIND CENTURY PHARMACEUTICALS LTD

The strong and harmonious team in Century is the main driving force behind the success of the company. The team accepts challenges and achieves them. It is geared for much better performances in future.

COMPANY’S FUTURE PERSPECTIVES

Presently, Century Pharmaceuticals Limited is on a very strong footing. The company was in a partnership with an Israeli Biotechnology company for research and commercialization of a novel recombinant protein for the treatment and cure of Asthma and Allergy. Now, the company is looking forward to developing costly products which require much fewer resources instead of churning out tons of pharmaceuticals which also produce a lot of pollutants. The team is working hard on unmet needs of the industry and tries to focus on products which have much fewer side effects.

Today, Rethink’s three divisions – Education, Employer & Behavioural Health – provide treatment tools and supports for caregivers in the public school system, for employees of Fortune 500 companies in over 120 countries, and in the healthcare system through public and private behavioural health agencies.

Rethink’s an Effective Web-Based Program

With a significant dearth of trained professionals (there are only approximately 30,000 Board Certified Behavioural Therapists) available to meet the needs of a growing population with a developmental disability (approximately 450 million individuals birth-21 globally), Rethink set out to create a scalable solution that would make clinical best practice treatment tools and supports available to the individual and their caregiver(s) no matter where they are located.

Rethink also offers a range of technology-enabled remote service options, ranging from short-term web-based consultations with Rethink’s Board-certified behavioural therapists to ongoing program development initiatives supported by an in-house team of clinicians. In addition, Rethink’s practice management offering allows for the tracking of service authorizations and cost of treatment as it relates to clinical outcomes. Rethink serves individuals at all levels of development and ages ranging from point of diagnosis through early adulthood.

A Case Study Showing How Rethink’s Methodology Surpassed An Organization’s Expectation

One of the most critical needs in employee benefits is supporting employees caring for a child with a developmental disability such as autism or ADHD. Costco Wholesale decided to be proactive and offer unique supports such as the Rethink program to these employees, who make up nearly 20% of the workforce. As Donna Sexton, the Director of Employee Benefits at Costco noted: “I can’t think of any benefits we’ve ever added to our suite that got so much attention and so many letters to our president, thanking him for bringing Rethink on, and what a difference it was going to make in their lives.”

Key Differentiating Factors

Rethink is unique in the marketplace by offering a scalable and fully integrated solution to addressing the needs of individuals with a developmental disability and their caregivers. Rethink’s employees share a deep passion for having a social impact and drive continuous innovation in the products that Rethink offers.

The “Secret Sauce”

Despite what many may think, building a successful company does not happen overnight.
There is the expression “the 10-year overnight success.”
This is particularly true for entrepreneurs and successful ones need to be willing to pivot
their business strategy to respond to changing market conditions as well as to have the
patience to play the long game and be willing and able to move the ball down the field a
little bit every day.

Awards and Achievements

For its outstanding contribution to the society and extraordinary service, Rethink has received several honours such as being named among the most innovative and best healthcare companies consecutively over the years and has won numerous awards including Inc. 500 Award, Interactive Media Awards – Best in Class, Healthcare, AI Excellence Award – Most Outstanding for Inclusive Education Evidence-Based Treatment Solutions in, and CV Magazine Achievement Award – Best for Inclusive Education & Evidence-Based Treatment Solutions, and Mid-Atlantic Innovator & Entrepreneur Award and Global Excellence Award for Most Innovative Behavioural Health Software to name a few.

Although it’s not just the organization that has made such an impact, for his leadership, philanthropic achievements, and dedication as an entrepreneur, Daniel has been recognized as CEO of the year and received the prestigious Smart CEO Future 50 Award.

Road Ahead

The Company is in the process of expanding its core product offering beyond treatment tools and supports for dependents with a developmental disability and their caregivers to adults with a developmental disability, including supporting those individuals in the workplace.

A Piece of Advice for Entrepreneurs

Find a problem in the market that is not yet addressed with an effective solution, develop a vision of a solution to address that problem, and surround yourself with capable people that are smarter than you to create a product that will solve the problem. And always continue to innovate and improve that solution!

GC INDIA: THE PREEMINENT DENTAL PRODUCTS MANUFACTURER

GC India : THE PREEMINENT DENTAL PRODUCTS MANUFACTURING, INTRODUCING INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS IN EMPLOYEE CENTRIC ENVIRONMENT

New technologies and innovations are transforming the world at breathtaking speed – all the more so in medicine. There can be no medical progress without technical progress, and there is no “healthy” future without innovations. Launching innovative products and establishing operational efficiencies to achieve customer delight and raising standards of oral healthcare, GC India is a one-stop solution for dental practitioners to focus on achieving excellence in clinical dentistry. Apart from its significant role in society through dental products, it is also a trailblazer for its unique employee-centric work culture.

Patients value the pleasant environment, excellent service, and modern equipment just as highly as the expertise of their dentist. With GC providing a wide range of quality products, it makes the life of a dental practitioner quite easy.

THE GUIDING FORCE

Presently, GC India is progressing under the guidance of a versatile and visionary leader, Dr. Sriram Mudambi. He is the Managing Director of the Company and has been instrumental in GC’s growth for two decades. Dr. Sriram holds extensive experience and industry knowledge. He did his post-graduation Restorative Dentistry from the National University of Singapore.

THE INFANCY STAGE

GC is the fairy tale of nurturing dreams, struggles, success, and growth. GC was founded in Tokyo during the hard times of the Great Depression in 1921 by a young chemist Kiyoshi NAKAO with his two friends ENJO and Tokuemon MIZUNO. The three founders had to deal with several disappointments and bitter setbacks trying to bring innovation in dental material. However, it was exactly these difficulties that led to unforeseen changes of direction and turning points that would later be crucial for the long-term success of the company.

GC’s first product, “Standard Cement,” was a big flop in the marketplace. However, this experience provided a great learning ground for the three founders, who realized the “importance of making products by thinking from the customer’s standpoint” and fostered an “uncompromising commitment to quality.” Three years later, they created “Crystalline Cement,” which offered excellent quality comparable to imported materials. The dedication of the founders to making quality products has been kept alive through generations of GC men and women, and it continues to drive the company’s growth through the philosophy of “SEMUI”. This theory originally comes from the Buddhist concept, “Always think and act from the viewpoint of your opponent or partner”. In the broadest sense, it represents a combination of selflessness, pure objectivity, charity, and great wisdom.

From the foundation until today’s journey of NAKAOs there lies a success story of what GC is today as one of the world’s largest and most successful manufacturers & suppliers of dental products.

SERVICE & PRODUCT PORTFOLIO

GC is known for gifting new concepts, technologies, and products to the dental fraternity. From the then “crystalline Cement” to glass ionomer restoratives materials all have the uniqueness of their own. Some of the widely acclaimed products of GC to Dental Industry are:

  • Gold Label 1 which is India’s highest-selling luting cement.
  • All-round restorative with outstanding invisible aesthetics G aenial with new injection moulding technique for Gaenial Universal Injectable.
  • New Fibre reinforced materials EverX Flow.
  • New generation nanohybrid technology of Sculpt series.
  • Evolution in glass ionomer restorative to glass hybrid Ionomer Equia Forte.
  • Celebrating over 5 years of successful Flexceed in India: the vinylpolysiloxane impression material whose flowability of Putty-Wash is better than any other brands.

GC is a pioneer in taking the initiative not only to advance product development but also to support the evolution of the latest concept of dentistry, namely ‘Minimal Intervention dentistry’. GC instituted a unique MI (Minimal Intervention) concept in 2000 by rephrasing the original MI concept proposed by the FDI in 1999 and defining the three approaches of ‘Identity’, ‘Prevention’ and ‘Treatment & Control’ to better fit the clinical situation. Since then, GC’s MI concept has always formed the basis of the company’s product development. In Digital Dentistry too GC India is at the forefront with the digital product portfolio like Aadva IOS, Cerasmart, Proceed ceramic, Optiglaze, Lustre Paste and G- CEM LinkForce- the universal luting solution.

A GLIMPSE OF HEALTHCARE SECTOR

In the dental industry, there are several trends going on today but all of them have one clear link: minimally invasive dentistry. The ultra-conservative approach is gaining more relevance as technology provides us with better materials that allow minimum thickness while keeping the same physical properties with unrivalled aesthetics. So in the fast-moving time, it’s very much required to keep pace with the market demand and update the products accordingly.

“We are Customer Focused. Continuous feedback and learning from the customer is vital to stay ahead of the competition and deliver impactful products”, asserts Dr. Sriram.

“The real KEY is to first gain the mindshare of our patients, followed by wallet-share. This sequence brings about factors such as “name, fame and respect” over a period of time. All this can be achieved if we first change our mindset. There is no such thing as cheap and best. Quality will have to be the focus,” he adds.

OVERCOMING THE HICCUPS, MEASURING THE SUCCESS

A few of the challenges in the pharma & medical device industries today are economic slowdown, Product liability, Customer cliff and not keeping up with Technology.

GC India has a consistent growth in terms of business and is constantly upgrading the product portfolio keeping in mind the Indian customers’ needs and requirements following all the industry regulations.
Because of differing requirements in the various overseas markets, GC has very deliberately localized its European, US, and Asian operations. GC has lost no time in optimizing its on-site activities, while at the same time fulfilling its obligation as a local enterprise to actively participate in each country’s dental industry associations. Human Resource is another biggest asset of GC India who is with the organization from a long period sharing and believing the philosophy of GC, even in the time when attrition tends to be higher in the industry.

EMPLOYEE ETHOS

All employees at GC act as members of a big family, where they remove themselves from egocentric
thoughts and respect their fellows, or “Nakama.” They also strive to think from the customer’s standpoint and make true products by placing a priority on the value these products provide for customers.
