The intentions of OpenAI to enter the social networking landscape are not clear. Still, some believe it could be connected to the company’s latest image generator powered by GPT-40, which went live last month. This tool lets users create Studio Ghibli-inspired images with a simple prompt.
This feature has immediately taken the world by storm and allows users to turn everyday clients into anime-style images and OpenAI is considering expanding into a social media project. This might be the driving factor pushing OpenAI to venture into the idea of social networks.
In February, OpenAI shared its weekly active users had increased by 400 million, while its paying business users were more than 2 million.
In March the company announced that it had successfully raised funding of $40 billion in the latest round, which made the company worth around $300 billion.
