Two cloudbursts, one in Dharali near Harsil in Uttarkashi, caused major destruction, triggering flash floods and mudslides. This has damaged multiple houses, shops, hotels, and roads. Another cloudburst happened in the Sukhi Top Area, which caused four deaths and several missing persons.
Counted among the most devastating natural disasters of the country, the cloudburst causes heavy rainfall across different areas. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, it is raining 100 millimeters with strong winds and lightning across 20-30 square kilometers.
Bageshwar is experiencing continuous rainfall, with both the Gomati and Saryu rivers in spate. Local authorities are monitoring the situation amid the growing flood in space.
The Uttarakhand CM holds a meeting with the key officials to effectively deal with the situation and issues numerous orders. The district administrations are on high alert, and the disaster response team has been on standby. The health department has deployed doctors, making emergency arrangements for medicines and food.
