Ola Electric, a company that makes electric vehicles, has introduced a new affordable electric scooter called the S1X. It starts at Rs 79,999. This scooter is a way to help more people use eco-friendly transportation instead of regular gas-powered vehicles.
During a special event at Ola’s Future Factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, the founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal introduced the new S1X scooter. Also, they showed a group of electric motorcycles that will come out at the end of 2024.
The S1X electric scooter has three types: one with a small i.e., 2KWh battery, one with a bigger, i.e. 3KWh battery, and one S1X+ with enhanced connectivity features. They created different versions as per customer preferences. Aggarwal talked about each version’s key features and pricing details during the launch.
The S1X electric scooter comes in two versions with different battery sizes. The one with a smaller battery is priced at Rs. 79,999 for the first week and then goes up to Rs. 89,999. The bigger battery version starts at Rs. 89,999 and later becomes Rs. 99,999. The premium S1X+ model, which has advanced connected features, starts at Rs. 99,999 and becomes Rs. 1,09,999 later.
Pre-orders for all variants have already commenced, the 2KWh and 3KWh variants are set to be delivered in December, and the S1X+ will arrive by the end of September.
Aggarwal said the S1X and S1X+ stand out because of their smart features. The S1X can go 151 kilometers on one charge and up to 90 km/hour, which is suitable for everyday travel.
Ola Electric is focused on making electric vehicles (EVs) more popular. Aggarwal said, “These scooters are the end of old scooters that run on fuel.” He talked about how EVs are more cost-effective to own and operate than regular fuel vehicles.
Aggarwal wants to help India to lead in electric vehicles. Ola Electric is quickly working towards this goal by making its strategy involving core technologies in-house, adopting localized supply chains, and leveraging manufacturing engineering to make electric vehicles (EV) affordable like regular ones (ICE).
When the company launched the S1X, Ola Electric also introduced a newer version called S1Pro, which cost Rs. 1,47,499(ex-showroom). Pre-orders for the S1Pro have already begun and will start being delivered in mid-September.
Ola Electric has several electric scooters, like S1X, S1X+, S1Air, and the premium S1Pro. The prices are between Rs. 89,999 and Rs. 1.47 lakh.
Ola Electric showcased its plans for electric motorcycles at the event. The lineup includes four distinct model types: Diamondhead, Adventure, Roadster, and Cruiser. Aggarwal proudly said these bikes are designed and engineered in-house, will mark Ola’s global entry into the future of motorcycling, and will be produced in India for a worldwide audience.
Ola Electric unveiled the MoveOS4 update to complement its product launches, featuring over 100 enhancements and more than 20 new features. Notable additions include Ola Maps, hill descent capabilities, find my scooter functionality, as well as Geo and time fencing features, all of which contribute to an enhanced and seamless user experience.
